Eric Schlosser

Nato: August 17, 1959 – New York City, New York, United States

Eric Schlosser is an American investigative journalist and nonfiction author who examines the hidden systems behind food, labor, punishment, and national security. He is best known for Fast Food Nation, Reefer Madness, and Command and Control, works that broadened public debate on corporate power, prison labor, and nuclear risk.

Biografia e Percorso dell'Autore

Eric Schlosser emerged from a background shaped less by literary branding than by history, reporting, and stage work. He studied American history at Princeton, later pursued British imperial history at Oxford, and spent time in playwriting and at an independent film company before turning decisively toward investigative nonfiction. Princeton’s John McPhee was an important model for him, and that influence can be seen in the way Schlosser uses narrative to explain large institutions through concrete details. An early turning point came when editors recognized that he could take an everyday product or institution and trace the hidden labor, economics, and power structures behind it.
