Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald (1896–1940) fue el autor de Hermosos y malditos y uno de los novelistas más preeminentes de la Era del Jazz en Estados Unidos, un término que él mismo popularizó. Nacido en St. Paul, Minnesota, Fitzgerald relató los excesos, las ambiciones y la decadencia moral de la América de los años 20 a través de una prosa intensamente poética.
