Taichi Yamada (1934–2023) fue un aclamado guionista y novelista japonés, mejor conocido por su obra fundamental de ficción sobrenatural, Strangers (1987). La novela explora temas como la soledad, el anhelo familiar y la porosa frontera entre la vida y la muerte.

Nacido en el distrito de Asakusa en Tokio, Yamada se formó en la Universidad de Waseda. Comenzó su carrera como asistente de dirección en un estudio de cine antes de convertirse en un prolífico dramaturgo de televisión, escribiendo series de éxito como Kishibe no arubamu.
