While Surrealists celebrated love's miraculous encounter, I advocate for a concept less miraculous and more laborious-constructing eternity within time through the experience of the Two, point by point. This involves daily negotiations, mutual growth, and the constant challenge of seeing the world through both unified and distinct perspectives. Theatre often depicts young lovers triumphing over family opposition (the encounter), while great novels frequently focus on love's impossibility, tragedy or ending. Romeo and Juliet, Tristan and Isolde, Anna Karenina - these stories celebrate love's intensity but rarely its longevity. The positive duration of love-particularly married life-has rarely inspired great artistic works.
