A portrait hanging in Stettin's Rathhaus captured his peculiar appearance: a small figure with an oversized head, dressed in unusual garments, accompanied by his dignified dog Bulger. We first encounter the Baron deeply absorbed in a fifteenth-century manuscript by the mysterious Don Fum, describing a "World within a World" accessible through portals in Northern Russia. When faithful Bulger falls into low spirits-annoyed by the familiarity of village dogs-the intelligent canine dramatically presents his old traveling clothes, signaling his desire for adventure.
