Nacido: March 04, 1950 – Liverpool, England, United Kingdom
Sir Ken Robinson was a British author, speaker, and education adviser focused on creativity, learning, and school reform. His notable books include The Element, Creative Schools, and Out of Our Minds. Knighted in 2003, he reached a global audience through his TED Talk on education, one of TED’s most-watched presentations.
Ken Robinson, later Sir Ken Robinson, was born on March 4, 1950, in Liverpool and grew up in a working-class family as one of seven children. A major early turning point came when he contracted polio at age four, spent months in hospital, and lived thereafter with lasting physical effects. That experience sharpened his sensitivity to children who did not fit standard educational expectations. He went on to study English and drama at Bretton Hall College of Education, then part of the University of Leeds, and later completed a doctorate at the University of London on drama and theatre in education. His intellectual foundations were formed at the intersection of literature, performance, and teaching rather than within a narrow policy lane.
