Biografía y Trayectoria del Autor

Harriet Lerner grew up in Brooklyn in a household that linked learning, culture, and therapy. She has said that her mother’s belief in therapy helped fix her ambition early; before finishing kindergarten, she had already decided to become a psychologist. She studied psychology and East Indian studies at the University of Wisconsin–Madison, spent a junior year doing research in Delhi, earned an M.A. from Teachers College, Columbia University, and completed a Ph.D. in clinical psychology at the City University of New York. After internship training at Mount Zion Hospital in San Francisco, she moved to Topeka in 1972 for postdoctoral work at the Menninger Foundation and remained there for more than two decades as a teacher, supervisor, and clinician.
