生年: June 06, 1964 – Bonn, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany
Peter Wohlleben is a German forester and author whose work focuses on forest ecology, trees, and the natural world. He is best known for The Hidden Life of Trees, alongside books such as The Inner Life of Animals and The Secret Wisdom of Nature. His books became international bestsellers.
Peter Wohlleben, born in Bonn in 1964, wanted to be a conservationist from childhood. He studied forestry and then spent more than two decades in the Rhineland-Palatinate state forestry administration, learning conventional forest management from the inside. The decisive turn in his career came when he concluded that industrial forestry often treated woods as production units rather than living ecosystems. In 2006 he left state service and took over management of a 1,200-hectare forest in the Eifel, where he pursued an ecological model built around native species, horse logging, the rejection of clear-cuts, and the avoidance of chemical interventions.
