Nacido: December 31, 1965 – Omaha, Nebraska, United States
Nicholas Sparks is an American novelist known for romance and drama centered on love, loss, faith, and family. His notable books include The Notebook, A Walk to Remember, and Dear John. His novels have sold more than 130 million copies worldwide, and many have been adapted into films.
Nicholas Sparks built his career from a blend of discipline, sentiment, and commercial instinct rather than from an online-first literary path. Born on December 31, 1965, in Omaha, Nebraska, he grew up mainly in north-central California and attended the University of Notre Dame on a track scholarship. A serious injury redirected that athletic drive toward writing, leading him to complete an early unpublished novel while still in college. He graduated in 1988 with a business degree, worked a series of jobs that included pharmaceutical sales, and eventually settled in New Bern, North Carolina, a setting that would later shape much of his fiction. Before his breakthrough, he also collaborated with Olympic runner Billy Mills on Wokini. The decisive turning point came when he wrote The Notebook in six months at age twenty-eight; published in 1996, it quickly established him as a major popular novelist.
