James Clear was born on January 22, 1986, in Hamilton, Ohio, where he grew up immersed in sports and a passion for learning. A devastating high school baseball injury left him relearning to walk, igniting an early fascination with recovery and incremental improvement. He attended Denison University, captaining the baseball team and designing his own biomechanics major, from which he graduated in 2008. Named to the ESPN Academic All-America team, Clear blended athletic discipline with academic rigor, laying the groundwork for his explorations in human potential.
