Elle Kennedy grew up in the suburbs of Toronto, Ontario, and knew early that she wanted to write. She studied English at York University, then moved through ordinary jobs, including English tutoring and film-distribution work around Toronto, while learning the discipline of a professional writing life. Her early career developed in traditional publishing, and by 2008 she had sold books across romance and romantic suspense. That apprenticeship helps explain the scale of her later popularity: before she became a major name in college and hockey romance, she had already spent years building craft, audience awareness, and resilience through steady output and rejection alike.
