Brett King is an Australian futurist and author focused on fintech, digital banking, artificial intelligence, and the future of business. He wrote Bank 4.0, Augmented, and Breaking Banks, and founded the fintech media brand Breaking Banks. An international bestselling author, he was inducted into the Fintech Hall of Fame in 2020.

Brett King emerged from Melbourne, Australia, with an early, intensely practical relationship to technology. As a teenager he bought a Vic-20, taught himself BASIC, sold a computer game while still in school, and moved quickly from coding work into part-time computing study at Monash University, though he later deferred. In the late 1980s and 1990s he founded a software company, later bought an internet-service-provider franchise, then moved into senior digital roles at Deloitte and Modem Media, including work in Hong Kong on financial-services strategy. Those years established the pattern that would define his later career: translating between technologists and executives, and treating banking not as a fixed institution but as a problem that could be redesigned.
