Ben Greenfield is an American author, fitness coach, and podcaster whose work centers on human performance, nutrition, longevity, and biohacking. He is best known for books such as Boundless and Beyond Training, which bring endurance training, wellness research, and self-experimentation to athletes and readers interested in optimizing health and aging.

Biography & Author's Journey

Ben Greenfield came to public life by way of an unusually accelerated education and a strong athletic streak. Raised in rural North Idaho and homeschooled through twelfth grade, he finished high school at 15, entered college at 16, and completed his studies at the University of Idaho as top senior after a 4.0 GPA. He later pursued a master’s degree in exercise physiology and biomechanics, while building experience through internships at Duke University and in the NFL. College sports, bodybuilding, triathlon, and later Ironman racing gave him both his subject matter and his laboratory: long before he became known as a biohacker, he was testing training, recovery, and nutrition ideas on himself.
