Amy Morin is an American psychotherapist, licensed clinical social worker, and author whose work centers on mental strength, resilience, and psychology. She is best known for the bestselling book 13 Things Mentally Strong People Don’t Do and related titles, and her TEDx talk on mental strength has drawn millions of views.
Amy Morin built her public work out of clinical training and private grief. After years of college and professional preparation, she began her career as a psychotherapist, expecting the usual demands of practice. Instead, her early adult life was marked by profound loss: she has said that she lost her mother and, a few years later, her husband, all by age twenty-six. Those experiences became the decisive turning point of her career. Finding that formal training alone did not fully answer the realities of grief, she began to study mental strength less as a slogan than as a set of daily choices, especially the unhealthy habits that keep people stuck.
