For filtering, use the .filter() method to create a new, smaller array. For sorting, since the standard .sort() method mutates the original array, it is best to use .toSorted() or create a copy first. By keeping the original unique IDs attached to the data throughout these transformations, React can perform "surgical" updates, moving existing DOM nodes to their new positions without losing their internal state.
