David Halberstam

David Halberstam was born in New York City on April 10, 1934, and grew up in a family that valued intellect, discipline, and public affairs. He attended Harvard College, where he worked on the Harvard Crimson and sharpened the reporting habits that would define his career. After graduation, he entered newspaper journalism in the South, first in Mississippi and then at The Tennessean in Nashville.
