Biografia e Jornada do Autor

Aristotle was born in 384 BCE in the town of Stagira in northern Greece to Nicomachus, a physician at the Macedonian royal court, and Phaestis. Orphaned young, he was raised by a guardian before being sent at age seventeen to Athens, the intellectual heart of Greece, to study at Plato’s Academy. Aristotle remained there for around two decades, earning a reputation as a keen scholar, yet ultimately diverged from his mentor over fundamental philosophical questions, most notably Plato’s theory of forms. After Plato’s death, Aristotle embarked on a period of travel and investigation that included research in Asia Minor and the island of Lesbos, where his studies in biology began to take their distinctive empirical character.
