Looking back, I likely have some degree of Asperger's Syndrome, which manifested in my difficulty reading social cues, tendency toward brutal honesty, and intense focus on specific interests. These traits, while challenging in childhood, would later become valuable assets in my technical career.
Everything changed in fifth grade when I discovered computers. What began as casual interest quickly developed into what I now recognize as a complete addiction. I would spend countless hours learning BASIC programming, creating simple games, and exploring the early internet. My grades improved dramatically in computer-related subjects, though I continued to struggle in others.
High school brought another transformation through speech and debate club. Despite experiencing terrible anxiety during impromptu speaking - complete with shaking hands and racing heart - I forced myself to persist. Counterintuitively, my high anxiety created a Zen-like concentration that improved my performance. By freshman year's end, I had placed third in regional finals against seniors from prestigious private schools - an early lesson that facing fears could lead to unexpected success.
At the University of Oregon, I strategically chose to triple-major in Computer Science, Mathematics, and Psychology, understanding that this unique combination would help me stand out to employers in an increasingly competitive tech landscape. To support myself, I worked nights monitoring the university computer network, a job that provided valuable hands-on experience and helped me graduate with minimal debt. College also introduced me to motorcycles through my friend Graham. This setback led to an opportunity with Lucas Arts in San Francisco at double my previous salary. While working as a gameplay engineer on an Indiana Jones game, I developed innovative "smart objects" that would instruct character AI how to use them. Despite my AI work receiving high marks, management differences led to my termination.
Standing on Ocean Beach after being fired, I realized, "This really isn't so bad... I got as far as I did because of what's in my head. And that's all still there." This perspective shift proved crucial for my resilience.
I quickly landed a position at Google, impressing them with my problem-solving skills. Eric Schmidt had built Google as an "open" company where employees could access most documents through MOMA (Google's internal document system). Using this access, I searched "fake news" and found a design document about the "election problem." It listed five top "fake news" stories with their Facebook engagement numbers-four negative stories about Hillary Clinton and one implausible story about Pope Francis endorsing Trump.
A chart showed "fake news" had 8.7 million Facebook engagements compared to mainstream news' 7.3 million before Election Day. The data revealed Facebook users sought negative stories about Clinton and positive stories about Trump. This raised an obvious question: Why was Hillary's loss a surprise to Google executives if their own data showed such strong anti-Clinton sentiment online?
Google's Machine Learning Fairness initiative revealed their intention to manipulate search results based on their own definition of "fairness" rather than factual accuracy. Their internal documents explicitly stated they would not release this definition externally while implementing it across all products. They were creating a system where humans at Google would determine what information was appropriate for the public, short-circuiting the essential human dialog that has been the foundation of Western thought since the Enlightenment.
The irony wasn't lost on me that Sergey Brin, who had fled totalitarian communism, was now implementing a system mirroring what he'd escaped. Google was becoming the very thing its founders once opposed-an information gatekeeper deciding what truths people should be allowed to consider.

Approximately half of this blacklist was dedicated to suppressing content related to the Las Vegas massacre, but its scope extended far beyond this single event. The blacklist systematically targeted terms connected to various mass casualty events, including specific phrases that questioned official narratives, such as "crisis actor," "David Hogg," and "false flag."
The censorship net cast by this blacklist was remarkably wide, encompassing diverse topics such as alternative cancer treatments, Black Lives Matter activism, discussions about constitutional amendments (particularly the Second Amendment), celebrity deaths, and conspiracy theories like "pizzagate." Each category contained dozens of specifically targeted keywords and phrases designed to suppress certain viewpoints or discussions.
My investigation revealed two additional significant blacklists. The "google_now_black_list.txt" specifically targeted conservative news outlets and commentary sites, effectively barring them from Google's news platform. Notable exclusions included The Gateway Pundit, Glenn Beck's website, and Louder with Crowder, among others. This systematic removal of conservative voices represented a clear political bias in Google's news curation. The third blacklist, labeled "page_level_domain_blacklist," was perhaps the most concerning as it completely eliminated certain websites from all search results, essentially making them invisible to Google users.
The case of e-catworld.com, a website dedicated to cold fusion research, stood out as particularly troubling. This site's complete removal from search results raised serious questions about potential corporate manipulation. The blacklist entry contained technically impossible URL structures, suggesting either deliberate internal sabotage or external exploitation. This coincided suspiciously with Google's own secret cold fusion research laboratory, raising questions about competitive suppression. After I filed a detailed bug report questioning whether this constituted corporate espionage, I received a swift warning from a company attorney about using such terminology. Shortly thereafter, e-catworld.com mysteriously reappeared in Google's search index, though no explanation was ever provided for its initial removal or subsequent restoration.
These discoveries fundamentally contradicted Google's public statements about search neutrality and algorithmic objectivity. The company wasn't merely organizing information as claimed - it was actively engaging in content curation and viewpoint suppression while maintaining a public facade of neutrality. The blacklists revealed a systematic approach to information control, with specific mechanisms for removing or suppressing content across multiple platforms and services. This realization forced me to confront an uncomfortable truth: I was working for an organization that had institutionalized the practice of public deception while wielding unprecedented power over global information access.

The Whistleblower's Dilemma
After discovering Google's blacklists, I faced an excruciating dilemma. Should I remain silent and continue collecting my "ridiculously large paychecks," or risk everything to expose what I believed was a threat to democracy? I contacted journalist friends who connected me with Project Veritas, James O'Keefe's undercover investigative journalism organization.
Meeting with Project Veritas operative Michael Combest brought both relief and intense anxiety. While unburdening myself felt "glorious," I experienced overwhelming stress about betraying my employer. At work, I withdrew from colleagues, increasingly seeing them as "indoctrinated" with "massive white guilt" and "pathologically altruistic" worldviews that justified information control.
Through conversations with Combest, I developed an "elevator pitch" outlining Google's "six simple, interconnected programs" for information control. However, despite sharing documents with Project Veritas, my story didn't immediately fit their publication model. Combest invited me to participate in a Twitter sting operation instead, which successfully exposed an engineer discussing algorithmic censorship of conservative accounts.
On April 3, 2018, my situation became even more complicated when a shooting occurred at YouTube headquarters in San Bruno. When the fire alarm sounded, I exited the building on my electric skateboard, only to discover a shooting victim and armed police. I warned other employees while livestreaming the incident to Facebook. Media outlets swarmed me for interviews, but confusion arose when reports claimed the shooter was a woman named Nasim Aghdam, contradicting what I believed I saw.
The shooter's motivation-anger over YouTube's censorship and demonetization policies-struck uncomfortably close to the issues I was investigating. I noted five reasons the mainstream media quickly dropped the story: the shooter was a vegan PETA advocate rather than fitting the typical mass shooter profile, used a handgun instead of a rifle, struck in gun-controlled California, was reported to police beforehand with no action taken, and was motivated by YouTube's own censorship practices.
This incident, combined with increasing waves of censorship against conservative content creators, made continuing at Google unbearable. I couldn't support what I now viewed as an enemy of America, even for my $250,000 salary. In early June 2019, I interrupted my manager during a meeting to announce my resignation.

Going Public and Facing the Giant
Remarkably, the same week I resigned, Project Veritas contacted me with a transcript from Google executive Jen Gennai admitting to algorithmic manipulation to prevent "another Trump situation." This synchronicity was stunning-everything I'd hoped to expose was materializing. James O'Keefe invited me to New York to speak on camera, and I agreed to appear anonymously while finalizing my resignation from Google.
Project Veritas released a twenty-five-minute video on June 24, 2019, featuring Gaurav Gite, Jen Gennai, and myself as an anonymous whistleblower. Gennai's comments were particularly damning-she admitted Google was defining "fairness" despite half the country disagreeing, training algorithms to change election outcomes, and dismissing Congressional oversight with "they can pressure us, but we're not changing." Fighting Back: How to Defeat Censorship
The key to defeating censorship is simple: "Aggregation cancels censorship." YouTube's power came from being both a video hosting platform and a recommendation engine, but after the October 2020 purge of conservative content creators, this ecosystem fragmented. Of 154 tracked content creators, 75% remained on YouTube while the rest scattered to platforms like Rumble (13%) and Bitchute (11%). This fragmentation forces users into a time-consuming "social media shuffle" to find content they previously enjoyed with ease.
YouTube censored content because conservative and anti-globalist material naturally generates high engagement metrics, causing their recommendation algorithm to over-promote such content despite attempts to suppress it. This led to their mass banning strategy. What we miss most isn't the hosting capability but the recommendation engine.
The solution is to separate aggregation from hosting-an aggregator could pull videos from wherever a creator publishes, whether YouTube or alternative platforms. This is precisely what I'm now working on in San Francisco-coming full circle but with a wiser perspective, no longer naive about corporate interests.
The 2020 Presidential election created a deeply divided America, not simply because Biden defeated Trump, but because a significant portion of Americans across political lines doubt the integrity of the results. According to Rasmussen Reports, even weeks after Biden's inauguration, 70% of Republicans, 46% of Independents, and 11% of Democrats believed mail-in voting led to unprecedented fraud.
Throughout this book, I've detailed my experiences at Google and how they developed an information control system I believe was intended to defeat President Trump. My publication of the Google documents aimed to spark conversation about how our worldview is being shaped by a small number of Big Tech decision-makers.
