Keri Lake is a gothic romance novelist whose work blends suspense, paranormal themes, and atmospheric, morally dark storytelling. Known for Nocticadia, Master of Salt & Bones, and the Nightshade duology, she writes antihero-driven tales of obsession and vengeance and is a New York Times and USA Today bestselling author.
Keri Lake’s path to fiction did not begin in a writing program or publishing house. She studied at Michigan State University and earned two science degrees, even as her deeper pull was toward storytelling. In interviews and early biographical notes, she described an early attachment to poetry, short fiction, and the imaginative possibilities of darker tales, along with encouragement from a high-school English teacher. She completed her first novel in 2008, writing around work and family life, and in 2011 released Somnium, the first step in a career that would move steadily from paranormal romance into a broader gothic and dark-fantasy register.
