Arianna Huffington’s story begins in Athens, where she was born in 1950 and raised in a family shaped by newspapers, ideas, and argument. As a teenager she moved to England, studied economics at Cambridge, and became president of the Cambridge Union, the first foreign-born student to lead it. Cambridge also sharpened her identity as a writer and speaker: after early struggles with English and public speaking, she published The Female Woman and went on to write biographies of Maria Callas and Pablo Picasso.
