Antarctica is classified as a desert because the scientific definition of a desert is based on low precipitation rather than temperature or the presence of sand. Since Antarctica receives very little rain or snow annually, it meets the geographical criteria to be the largest desert, challenging the common "hot and sandy" stereotype associated with places like the Sahara.

South Africa distributes its government power across three cities to maintain a system of checks and balances among the different branches of state. Pretoria serves as the administrative capital, Cape Town acts as the legislative capital where parliament meets, and Bloemfontein serves as the judicial capital and home to the Supreme Court of Appeal.

For a malfunctioning clock to display the correct time, it must fall behind by a full 24-hour cycle. Since the clock in this scenario loses 0.5 hours every day, you divide the 24 hours needed to reset the cycle by the 0.5 hours lost per day, resulting in 48 days before the hands align with the actual time again.

Nature often produces unique adaptations to solve environmental problems, such as the wombat producing cube-shaped droppings. The flat sides of the cubes prevent the scat from rolling off rocks or logs, allowing the wombat to effectively mark its territory. Similarly, the greater bulldog bat has evolved specialized skills to hunt fish from the water's surface, a rare trait among bat species.

A lipogram is a piece of writing where the author deliberately avoids using a specific letter of the alphabet. An extreme example of this is a 50,000-word novel by Ernest Vincent Wright, which was written entirely without the letter "E," the most common letter in the English language. Wright even disabled the "E" key on his typewriter to ensure he adhered to this constraint.
