Jenny Erpenbeck è la celebre autrice tedesca di Visitation (Le forme del destino) e una delle voci più potenti della letteratura europea contemporanea. Nata a Berlino Est nel 1967 in una famiglia di scrittori, Erpenbeck crea narrativa storica ricca di sfumature che esplora i temi della memoria, dello spostamento e del peso del passato.

Visitation segue diverse generazioni che abitano una casa in riva al lago nel Brandeburgo attraverso un secolo di storia tedesca, dalla Prima Guerra Mondiale fino al dopoguerra, creando quello che NPR ha definito "una storia del secolo vista attraverso gli oggetti che abbiamo conosciuto e perso lungo il cammino".

Prima di diventare scrittrice a tempo pieno, Erpenbeck ha studiato regia teatrale al Conservatorio di Musica Hanns Eisler e ha lavorato come regista d'opera in tutta Europa. Il suo romanzo The End of Days (Voci del verbo andare) ha vinto l'Independent Foreign Fiction Prize nel 2015, mentre Go, Went, Gone è stato inserito nella longlist per il Man Booker International Prize nel 2018.
