Capitolo 4
Mind: The Creative Force Behind All Reality
Mind is pure consciousness rather than physical brain matter. No microscope has ever revealed the essence of self-consciousness, the personal "I am." The brain is merely result, never cause. This chapter transcends these half-truths to explore mind as pure thought and conception on the spiritual plane where all things are one and thought is the only creator.
The Conscious Mind operates through the five senses, seeking pleasure and avoiding pain. This Conscious Mind is fundamentally a pleasure-pain distinguisher, with memory, reason and imagination serving the survival instinct. All conscious organisms possess this life urge, manifesting as intelligence adapted to their environment. When pain occurs, desire to avoid it creates an image projected into Universal Mind, which manifests new forms and intelligence.
The Conscious Mind remembers pain and pleasure circumstances, analyzes experiences, and imagines escapes from pain-these are its memory, reason, and imagination functions. It's essentially a recording, analyzing, and selective instrument for sensation. Being finite and tied to physical senses, it's as destructible as the body housing it.
The Subconscious Mind perfectly records every thought and sensory perception, though most remains inaccessible to conscious recall. This vast store of knowledge represents enormous latent power. Most subconscious memories remain neutral, neither helping nor hindering, but the Subconscious also contains "Prompters"-convictions filed away with instructions never to be recalled. These pain rejections act as an illusory devil, as the Universal Intelligence responds to conviction, manifesting precisely what the individual fears.
Scientific research has revealed that mass is potential energy and energy is potential mass-a certain weight of uranium can unleash specific power, and that power could create uranium. The only conclusion is that one substance forms all physical matter and energy. This substance is infinite in time and space, without beginning or end, existing everywhere at all times.
Infinity has no units within it-it is one and only one. Everything is fundamentally one thing with no beginning or end, no past or future-only an eternal now. Einstein's Theory of Relativity suggests anything traveling at light speed would be everywhere simultaneously, representing infinity.
Infinity is science's word for God. All scientific disciplines and philosophical endeavors are simply different paths leading to this single destination-the eternal substance and intelligence that contains everything, is everywhere yet in one place, spans all time yet exists in one moment. All of this infinite God-power exists within us right now and always.
Hypnotism allows us to temporarily bypass the Conscious Mind and directly access the infinite intelligence within-the Subconscious Mind. This mind has no volition of its own but reacts entirely by suggestion. It doesn't argue or theorize-it simply accepts and acts, making suggestions into reality. The Subconscious can manifest remarkable changes-enabling painless surgery without anesthetics, curing "incurable" conditions, and potentially transforming failure into success.
Capitolo 5
Form: The Manifestation of Consciousness
The universe operates according to eternal and immutable law. From the atom to the solar system, identical patterns of nucleus and orbiting parts reveal a universe of mirrors reflecting one eternal law in infinite gradations of size. Our premise is that thoughts make things-the basic substance behind all form is energy that moves according to intelligent design.
The Universal Subconscious Mind is the stuff from which all things are made, manifesting first as centers of force (atoms or solar systems). Space consists of vibration-intelligence that vibrates at different frequencies, with similar frequencies attracting to form units. Atoms seek out other atoms of corresponding vibration to form matter. Since intelligence must be conscious, we live in a living universe where consciousness exists in all things.
Edison observed the "obvious choice of the atom" in chemical combinations, concluding atoms exercise conscious choice in whether they combine with other atoms. The atom-the universe's building block-is a center of force that is conscious, seeking other atoms vibrating at corresponding rates.
The entire universe is alive-nothing is dead or inanimate. The great motivating force of all life is its attempt to expand consciousness, to know itself. While atoms possess consciousness, they aren't self-conscious, making choices within rigid laws. From rocks to the pain-pleasure responsive amoeba represents expanding consciousness. The form of anything-rock, amoeba, or human-results from its consciousness.
The universe is engaged in expanding consciousness because universal intelligence seeks to know itself. God knows himself only as a thing. Infinite intelligence has no boundaries, so to know itself it must become something finite-it must become things. Human beings represent the highest self-consciousness we observe. Evolution is life expanding toward conscious oneness with God. Our destiny is to expand our consciousness until we're one with all creation, transcending space and time, where man's consciousness becomes God's consciousness.
All great metaphysical and religious works describe consciousness evolution as spirit descending into matter. The Garden of Eden allegory illustrates this process-the fall culminating in self-awareness represents the beginning of self-consciousness and free choice. This awareness became the origin of error, evil, sin and punishment-natural results of humanity's search for truth.
Life's purpose is the expansion of consciousness-reaching toward oneness with God. Jesus demonstrated this consciousness when saying "Who hath seen me, hath seen the Father" and "I and my Father are one." This represents the ultimate consciousness-unity with all men, life, and substance. Form results from consciousness, consciousness from thought, and thought from connection with Universal Intelligence.
Capitolo 6
Intuition: The Bridge to Universal Knowledge
A mighty epoch approaches for mankind, where the heart will hear instead of ears, and the mind will see instead of eyes. Intuition encompasses far more than mere "hunches." It includes clairvoyance, thought transference, materializing and dematerializing objects, levitation, spirit contact, and instinctive grasp of construction laws in mathematics and music. Intuition describes our recognition that mind transcends matter, that Universal Subconscious Mind contains knowledge of all things and times, forms the substance of everything, and responds to thought and desire.
Dr. J.B. Rhine's scientific work at Duke University's Parapsychology Laboratory proved that human minds can affect inert matter, see into the future, and transmit thoughts regardless of distance. His experiments with dice-throwing, card sequence prediction, and telepathy all showed results far exceeding probability. Rhine concluded that mind operates independently of space and time constraints, suggesting survival beyond death-scientific findings that echo what Jesus taught centuries ago.
Many throughout history have demonstrated these truths. Joan of Arc liberated France guided by voices from the Subconscious Mind. Bernadette's vision at Lourdes created a healing site where faith still cures hundreds yearly. Leonardo da Vinci, Shakespeare, Einstein, Edison, and Gandhi all tapped into this Universal spirit.
All intuitive powers belong solely to the Subconscious Mind but become available only when controlled by the Conscious Mind. The Subconscious can perceive without physical senses, travel beyond the body, and see across time. It exists independent of the body, living in all things and encompassing infinity-it is both the individual soul and the universal soul.
Mathematical prodigies like Zerah Colburn, who could instantly calculate sixteenth powers as a child, and musical geniuses like Blind Tom, who despite being an idiot from birth could reproduce any composition after a single hearing, demonstrate how the Subconscious Mind can perceive universal laws. These laws of construction, rhythm, and movement exist within each of us, accessible if we clear away doubt and skepticism.
We are all potential geniuses with dormant greatness waiting to be awakened. We need only remove the barriers and unlock the door to our silent inner dweller. We build its prison each time we say, "I'm not good enough," "I don't know how," "It's too hard," "I'm poor," "I'm sick," "I'm tired," or "I'm nobody." These thoughts reduce our mighty mind to a cowering pygmy, forcing it to manifest our fears and doubts.
Mental telepathy isn't about minds acting as radio transmitters with individual frequencies. Rather, we think into and with the Universal Subconscious Mind that's everywhere simultaneously. We don't transfer thoughts; we think them into the one mind that contains us all, making them potentially perceptible to anyone who can access this mind.
Clairvoyance is understanding things to come, not because our fates are predestined, but because our futures are shaped by our convictions. The thing of tomorrow is the thought of today. Dreams and visions reliably forecast events because the Subconscious Mind transcends time-past, present, and future exist simultaneously as an eternal now.
Capitolo 7
Faith: The Power That Manifests Reality
Faith forms the foundation of all things in our lives. We unconsciously exercise faith daily-trusting that food transforms into blood and tissue, that breathing sustains us, that the sun will rise. Yet we often scoff at faith in less tangible realms. History's greatest achievements came through faith: Moses finding the Promised Land, Columbus discovering the West Indies, scientific breakthroughs, and spiritual journeys. Faith is humanity's single most important tool, the substance of things hoped for and evidence of things unseen.
The Subconscious Mind belongs collectively to all persons and things, yet fully to each individual. It forms the substance of creation, permeating all things, constantly striving to manifest physically. What manifests depends entirely on conceptions placed there by Conscious Mind. The Subconscious cannot reason inductively-it cannot derive law from circumstance-but only deductively, accepting premises as law and creating physical reality from them.
Not all thoughts manifest physically-if they did, our world would be chaotic from billions of human thoughts each second. Selectivity exists, exercised not by the Subconscious but by the Conscious Mind. Our thoughts manifest only when delivered with conviction. Faith is precisely that factor giving thoughts the impetus of conviction, impressing them upon the Subconscious as premises requiring physical manifestation. Whatever you're genuinely convinced of must become real in your life-thought plus faith creates!
If some omnipotent being directed our lives, faith would be unnecessary. But our purpose is to provide the Subconscious with conclusions from our specific experiences, which it then manifests physically. Simple affirmations like "I have money" or "I am well" give the Subconscious premises upon which it must act. Jesus didn't argue when healing; he simply stated, "You are well." The Subconscious always creates what we truly believe in-not what we hope for, but what we affirm with conviction.
When starting a business venture, you might affirm success initially. But facing setbacks, your thoughts can quickly shift to mistake, loss, failure, and bankruptcy. These negative affirmations guarantee failure. Success requires thinking success; failure comes from thinking failure. The crucial moment for faith is when circumstances appear negative-you must refuse to accept setbacks as mistakes or omens of failure, instead reaffirming success and trusting a greater power's guidance.
J. Hampton Pool, successful Los Angeles Rams coach, learned about faith through experience. As Stanford football teammates finishing a winless season, Pool and the author blamed everyone but themselves for their losses before facing top-ranked Dartmouth. On the train to New York, they had a revelation-despite physical effort, they hadn't truly played their best because they lacked belief. They made a pact: "We not only can win, we will win." This shift in mindset lifted their gloom and created confidence. During the game, players made unprecedented tackles, catches, and blocks, defeating Dartmouth inexplicably. Afterward, Pool observed, "Maybe it's always easy when you have faith. Maybe having faith is the only hard thing."
Capitolo 8
The Law of Attraction: Creating Your Reality
The human being functions as a center of life force, attracting and repelling according to beliefs. Universal Mind differentiates into centers that congregate with others of similar vibration. Every unit built from Universal Mind naturally attracts thought-things matching its mental vibrations. All worldly things are pure intelligence cast into form by Universal Subconscious Mind.
Since ancient shepherds discovered lodestones attracting the iron of their staffs, science has increasingly recognized that behind all form and substance lies a subtle but powerful attraction. This attraction shows high design and intelligence-science calls it Laws of Nature, religion calls it God, and we call it Universal Subconscious Mind. A mind with certain thought patterns automatically repels contrary thoughts and attracts allied ones. A mind conditioned to poverty will inevitably create lack, even if suddenly given wealth. Conversely, those born to wealth have ingrained prosperity-thinking that effortlessly attracts more abundance.
From the atomic level to our solar system, dynamic attraction pervades the universe. Protons attract specific electrons to form distinct atoms; Earth's magnetism steadies compass needles and balances centrifugal forces. Whether called magnetism, polarity, electricity, or thought power-it's all attraction. Like attracts like, thing to image, circumstance to vision, answer to prayer-this single law constructs everything.
Unlike physical magnets that cannot change their properties, you can transform your mental magnetism by changing your thoughts and beliefs, attracting what you previously repelled. By refusing to accept illness and attaching your beliefs to spiritual perfection, you can banish disease from your experience.
Jesus articulated the law of attraction when saying, "Unto him who hath shall be given, and unto him who hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath." He understood that seeing abundance creates more abundance, while perceiving lack manifests greater lack. Every thought you entertain becomes part of you and inevitably materializes. All choice happens in mind, all acceptance in spirit-and there aren't billions of separate minds but only one universal mind expressing through each of us.
Vanity-the isolated ego-always undoes us with its endless "I have to do this" and "I have to do that" when truly "I" does nothing but choose and accept while the Universal Subconscious Mind does everything. Anyone attempting achievement on the basis that "it's all up to me" will quickly be overwhelmed by endless problems and decisions. No person alone is sufficient for anything significant. But when we release our vanity, recognize our unity with all life, and reject personal isolation, we invite the great power into our lives, and everything arranges according to our desired good.
Capitolo 9
Love: The Supreme Law of Creation
Love is the supreme law governing all existence, the recognition of our spiritual unity with all life. From Universal Mind we've been differentiated into separateness, forever seeking reunion. All positive qualities spring from love successfully given and received, while all negative qualities arise from love frustrated.
Love transcends romantic attachment between the sexes. Our strongest emotional drive has been channeled into physical drives, but marriage and home are not schools for love. No person can truly love another unless they first love humanity. We seek union with others because we dimly remember our spiritual oneness. From infinity we're thrust into finiteness, creating a terrible longing to return to that complete sense of belonging. As Jesus commanded, "Love thy God with all thy heart" and "Love thy neighbor as thyself."
We evolved from pure eternal spirit where space and time don't exist. Our longing for love stems from knowing absolute unity and feeling lost without it. All our pain comes from rejected love, planting the Prompters in our Subconscious. As Paul wrote, without love we are nothing-all gifts, knowledge and sacrifice profit nothing. Love is patient, kind, humble, and enduring.
Fear negates love, breeding hate and all evil. True love recognizes the spiritual unity of all life-you and your neighbor are one. The Universe sings "One! One! One!" as we're all manifestations of the Universal Subconscious Mind. Children naturally expect all desires to be fulfilled, having recently come from unity. When denied with love and care, they learn consideration; when denied with anger, they learn rejection and fear. Fear anticipates love's rejection; hate responds to its rejection. Both arise from our thwarted urge toward unity.
Hate is love's negation, just as poverty negates abundance. Both use the same force-positively in love, negatively in hate, and paralyzed in fear. Our buried Prompters create automatic negative responses to certain people and situations, but meditation at our center of consciousness can dissolve them. Fear, the greatest crippler, paralyzes us before we even begin. It's merely faith in negative things, believing we inhabit a hostile universe bent on destroying us.
Through love we attain rebirth of consciousness and unity with Universal Mind-what Jesus called being "born again." Love already exists complete within us, crying for expression, but we foolishly lock it away behind pride and vanity. This hurts only ourselves, as love flows through the universe regardless, expressing through every raindrop and flower.
All creation is a labor of love. Nothing emerges from the Universal Subconscious Mind without first desiring to contribute to humanity. Creativity comes from loving life, perceiving its direction and becoming one with its purpose. Each person has unique talents through which God becomes something unique in the universe. We're never truly happy unless developing these talents and fulfilling our destinies, advancing humanity's knowledge and moving in accord with life itself.
Capitolo 10
The True Nature of Success and Prosperity
Modern man envisions success as wealth with large homes, cars, and leisure time, believing money is the path. But only mint employees actually "make" money-the rest earn it by providing valuable services. Money merely represents an exchange of services between people. Success isn't about making money; making money results from success, which comes from fulfilling oneself through productive effort that benefits humanity.
Those who pursue money for its own sake focus on accumulating rather than serving, ultimately defeating themselves. Money worship has replaced spiritual values, leading to despair when wealth fails to provide peace of mind or halt aging and death. While abundance and prosperity are desirable spiritual conditions, pursuing money for its own sake ignores human destiny.
Let money measure your service rather than pursuing it directly. Focus on serving others, and gratitude will return as money through universal law. Take satisfaction from service while constantly improving it, and abundance will follow from the soul's roots. Prosperity follows the law of mutual exchange-what you give, you get; what you sell, you buy; what you think, you see.
Money represents service, never an end in itself. We cannot receive more than we transmit-the flow always balances eventually. The law of mutual exchange governs all life; no service goes unrewarded, no disservice unpunished. We serve best by creating rather than competing-developing new jobs, markets, methods. We are creative beings connected to God's infinite power, able to draw from an inexhaustible pool of knowledge for any project we dare undertake.
True wealth creation benefits everyone in some manner, though some prosper more than others. We achieve by creating, by connecting with Universal Subconscious Mind, by becoming one with God. Our ego-the false "I"-separates us from our true being. Before we can truly create, we must strip away vanity, pretension, pride, and conceit.
Universal Subconscious Mind manifests through our imagination, with no limits except those we impose. All creative impulses spring from imagination-Columbus wondering if the world was round, the Wright brothers asking if man could fly. Only an unfettered mind dares challenge the impossible. Every major human advancement began with someone imagining possibilities that others ridiculed. The same creative power is available to everyone, though most use only a fraction of it.
Ideas don't come by chance-they find those who attract them by removing mental barriers about what can or can't be done. The greatest minds use the same power available to everyone; Einstein had no more access to it than you. Free yourself through love, release limiting thoughts, and the power will flow. Ask Universal Subconscious Mind how to achieve your goals with complete confidence. The answer will come naturally, easily attributed to chance, but actually manifested by God.
Achievement and prosperity are mental conditions that manifest physically. To achieve, you must first think achievement; to create, think creatively; to prosper, think prosperity. We must rise above circumstances and not let our surroundings dictate our thinking. Confusion between cause and effect is failure's hobgoblin. When surrounded by poverty, disease, failure, or hate, we often think correspondingly, becoming victims rather than creators. Recognize that the physical is always result, the mental always cause.
Capitolo 11
The Key to Unlocking Your Divine Potential
This is the ultimate illumination, the key to peace and power: You are God. Accept this towering truth and universal consciousness will be revealed from within. God peers from behind your eyes, is your consciousness, your very Self. You are not just part of God; you are altogether God, and God is altogether you. The Upanishads, Vedanta, and Jesus all confirm this truth. God is Universal Subconscious Mind, the intelligence pervading all times and places. God becomes all things; He has become you. Not your body or ego, but your sense of being, your "I"-the one "I" in the universe.
God is consciousness, awareness, order, design, intelligence and spirit-infinite yet unable to know Himself as infinity except by becoming finite things. Through each of us God attains self-consciousness; each of us is God incarnate. We accept limitations of flesh and inhibitions of ego, falling short of God-consciousness. Our ego thrusts upon us a duality of mind where Conscious Mind overruns Universal Subconscious Mind, making us regard ourselves as ego only. Free yourself from these bonds, and you'll forget the poor thing you thought you were, becoming one with God.
This far guidance can take you, but enlightenment you must achieve alone. Accept that all truth is spiritual, discard ego's promptings and sensual stimuli, search for revelation at consciousness's center, and the Kingdom of Heaven will be yours. Letting go of ego may seem like letting go of life itself-"Who loses his life shall find it." Through meditation comes illumination, as Edward Carpenter describes: stilling the brain, letting thought go, gliding into quiet feeling of identity with the universe, experiencing absolute repose and universal power that transforms the world.
This knowledge, though ancient, has been exceedingly rare. One consciousness assumes countless forms seeking greater self-knowledge. The infinite Self becomes finite self, and when finite self recognizes itself as infinite Self, eternity is exposed. We've searched for God everywhere outside, yet He dwells within as our very selves. As Swinburne wrote: "I am thou, whom thou seekest to find him; Find thou but thyself, thou art I."
The lock barring us from recognizing we are God is the ego created in our first memories and inhibitions. This lock can be undone through meditation and universal consciousness; the key is the revelation that each man is God. Mind is consciousness, is intelligence-there is only one mind, God's mind. Universal Subconscious Mind creates in the physical world what Conscious Mind believes. Evil comes from false thinking and may be banished by donning the mantle of immortal Self. The physical world is subordinate to spiritual law. We attract the physical manifestations of our thoughts, so we must learn to choose good thoughts, originating them from consciousness's center.
Turn inward, shutting out past memories and future images, concentrating on your awareness. Deep in your soul's recesses, perceive fact in the making, conscious of the one being from which all beings spring. This is immortal Self, God, you. You always were, always will be. All men, things, space, time and life are in your soul's depths. You are not ego, not a thing of time or circumstance, but spirit-pure, eternal, birthless, deathless, changeless. You are patient, wise, painless, rich, successful, loving and beloved. Unite with Universal Subconscious Mind, never again wearing vanity's mask. Perceive the magnificent Dweller at your consciousness's center and know Him as your very self. You are God.
