    “

Envy is often a sign that there’s something right in you that you aren’t claiming. It is a map to your own unmet needs, pointing to the fact that you are starving for recognition and value.

    Question posée

How not to be jealous of a family member who has the perfect life and gets everything she wants but doesn’t work for it but it’s spoiled and treated like a princess when you work so hard for everything you have and get nothing in return and are treated like shit. I want to learn how to deal with that. Had to focus on myself and be happy with myself and maybe even make them jealous of me.

    Foire aux questions

The 'Golden Child' syndrome refers to a specific family dynamic where one relative is treated like a 'princess' or 'spoiled,' receiving praise and rewards with seemingly little effort. This often leaves others feeling invisible or like their hard work goes unnoticed. Understanding this dynamic is the first step in moving beyond the sting of being treated poorly while others are fawned over during family gatherings.

Feeling envy or resentment toward a family member is often a natural instinct rather than a character flaw. It acts as a signal or a 'door to your own personal underworld,' highlighting deep-seated feelings of fragility or a sense that your own hard work isn't being valued. This 'green-eyed monster' is actually trying to communicate something important about what you feel is missing in your own life.

Overcoming family envy involves reframing your frustration as an important signal rather than just being 'bitter.' By recognizing that these feelings are a response to specific family dynamics and the 'spoiled' treatment of others, you can begin to address the underlying psychology of envy. Acknowledging these emotions allows you to move beyond resentment and focus on your own values and personal growth.
