À propos de l'auteur

Rick Riordan est l'auteur n°1 des meilleures ventes du New York Times pour La Pyramide rouge et une voix de premier plan dans la fiction pour jeunes adolescents basée sur la mythologie. Né à San Antonio, au Texas, en 1964, Riordan a enseigné l'anglais et les études sociales pendant quinze ans avant de prendre sa retraite pour se consacrer à l'écriture à plein temps.

La Pyramide rouge lance Les Chroniques de Kane, sa série sur la mythologie égyptienne, s'appuyant sur la même formule qui a fait de sa série Percy Jackson et les Olympiens un phénomène mondial : mélanger des mythes anciens avec des décors contemporains et des jeunes héros attachants confrontés à des défis extraordinaires.

La percée de Riordan a eu lieu avec Le Voleur de foudre en 2005, créé à l'origine comme des histoires du soir pour son fils Haley, qui souffre de TDAH et de dyslexie. Ce lien personnel l'a inspiré à façonner des protagonistes qui transforment leurs faiblesses perçues en forces.

Avant d'écrire pour les jeunes lecteurs, Riordan a été acclamé par la critique pour sa série de polars pour adultes Tres Navarre, remportant les prix Shamus, Anthony et Edgar.
