Herman Koch est l'auteur néerlandais à succès du roman Le Dîner et un écrivain de renommée internationale connu pour ses thrillers psychologiques sombres. Né en 1953 à Arnhem, aux Pays-Bas, Koch élabore des récits troublants qui explorent la moralité, la loyauté familiale et les profondeurs inquiétantes de la nature humaine.

Son style caractéristique met en scène des personnages moralement ambigus et une prose acérée qui force les lecteurs à se confronter à des vérités inconfortables sur la violence, le cynisme et la façade de respectabilité.

Au-delà de l'écriture, Koch a co-créé la série comique télévisée néerlandaise de longue date Jiskefet et a joué au cinéma et à la télévision.
