Liu Cixin est l'auteur de science-fiction chinois acclamé de La Forêt sombre, le deuxième tome de sa trilogie révolutionnaire Le Problème à trois corps (Remembrance of Earth's Past), et une voix de premier plan de la hard science-fiction explorant la sociologie cosmique et la survie de l'humanité dans un univers hostile. Né à Pékin en 1963, Liu a travaillé comme ingénieur en informatique dans une centrale électrique de la province du Shanxi, apportant une expertise scientifique rigoureuse à ses récits spéculatifs sur le contact extraterrestre, la tromperie stratégique et la théorie glaçante de la forêt sombre appliquée aux relations interstellaires.
