Rick Yancey (Richard Yancey) est l'auteur à succès du New York Times de La Mer infinie et une figure emblématique de la science-fiction pour jeunes adultes et de la littérature dystopique. Né à Miami, en Floride, en 1962, Yancey élabore des récits d'invasion extraterrestre riches en suspense qui mêlent action, émotion et thèmes de survie.

La Mer infinie est le deuxième tome de sa célèbre trilogie La 5e Vague, suivant une protagoniste adolescente à travers un monde post-apocalyptique dévasté par des attaques extraterrestres.
