Fighter pilots have spent decades perfecting how to think clearly when everything is falling apart, and their methods have quietly revolutionized how Fortune 500 CEOs, surgeons, and even NASA astronauts make critical choices. The secret isn't about being smarter or braver. It's about having a system that works when your brain wants to panic. Every fighter pilot learns a mantra that becomes as automatic as breathing: maintain aircraft control, analyze the situation, take proper action, land as soon as conditions permit. This sequence isn't arbitrary-it's the distilled wisdom of thousands of crashes and near-misses. The first step is non-negotiable: establish stability before doing anything else. Only with control secured can you properly assess what's actually happening. Air France Flight 447 crashed into the Atlantic Ocean in 2009, killing 228 people, because the pilots violated this fundamental sequence.
