Annabel Monaghan is a novelist and essayist whose work spans contemporary romance, young adult fiction, and columns. She is known for Nora Goes Off Script, Same Time Next Summer, Summer Romance, and It’s a Love Story. A New York Times bestselling author, she is in the Library Reads Hall of Fame, and her novels have been translated into 21 languages.
Annabel Monaghan’s career joins an unusually broad set of experiences: she grew up in Los Angeles, studied English at Duke University, earned an MBA in Finance from the Wharton School, and worked briefly as an investment banker before turning fully toward writing. That early pivot mattered. It moved her from Wall Street into a body of work shaped by observation, comic timing, and close attention to ordinary domestic life. Before becoming widely known for adult fiction, she published the young adult novels A Girl Named Digit and Double Digit and released Does This Volvo Make My Butt Look Big?, an essay collection drawn from her columns and pieces for The Huffington Post, The Week, and The Rye Record.
