What's fascinating is how substances and certain behaviors literally change your brain chemistry. When we engage in pleasurable activities like eating good food or spending time with loved ones, our brain releases dopamine, creating that rewarding feeling.

It's why alcohol use disorder is actually the most common addiction in the United States, affecting about 10% of people aged 12 or older.
