This proactive approach in Target Costing encourages efficiency and cost reduction during the product design phase, ensuring the final product meets both market expectations and profitability goals.
Activity-Based Costing (ABC) is vital in management accounting because it provides a more accurate picture of product profitability by identifying the true cost of business activities. By linking overhead expenses to specific tasks—such as machine setups or quality inspections—managers can identify inefficiencies and make better strategic decisions. This method helps organizations move beyond the broad generalizations of traditional costing, allowing for more precise pricing, budgeting, and resource allocation across various product lines.
