Graduada del Instituto de Artes Indígenas Americanas con una doble maestría en Bellas Artes (MFA) en no ficción creativa y poesía, también es autora de la colección de poesía Rose Quartz y de la colección de ensayos Thunder Song, que profundizan en la descolonización y la identidad indígena queer. LaPointe enseña escritura creativa en el Evergreen State College y es mentora de los jóvenes poetas laureados de Seattle.
