Sara Milne Rowe's SHED Method-Sleep, Hydration, Exercise, and Diet-provides a framework for building positive routines that help us feel more in control. The method identifies five key energies: Body energy (the foundation, covering SHED basics); Mood energy (maintaining calm and positivity); Mind energy (boosting concentration and problem-solving); People energy (surrounding yourself with those who energize rather than drain you); and Purpose energy (connecting to what drives you beyond self-interest).
In our unpredictable, fast-changing world with blurred boundaries between work and home life, self-care skills are essential for performing well professionally, achieving personal goals, supporting loved ones, and feeling our best. Looking after yourself reduces stress (which affects 74% of people to overwhelming levels), improves physical and mental health, enhances relationships through greater presence, boosts work performance through better focus, and creates space for creativity by freeing mental capacity.
