Grant Cardone grew up in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and has said that the death of his father when he was 10 strongly shaped his early sense of insecurity, ambition, and interest in money. He attended McNeese State University and later said he earned an accounting degree there, but his young adulthood was unsettled: by his own account, drugs, unstable work, and a lack of direction defined much of his early twenties. He has described age 25 as the decisive turning point, when mentoring and a deliberate break from addiction redirected him toward sales, discipline, and self-education.
