Gene Kim’s journey from precocious technologist to renowned author and organizational theorist began in his formative years as a student at Purdue University. There, he collaborated with Dr. Gene Spafford to develop Tripwire, a foundational open source tool for intrusion detection in Unix systems. This experience not only cemented his technical acumen but also propelled him into the entrepreneurial sphere; in 1997, Kim co-founded Tripwire, Inc., serving as CTO for thirteen years and guiding the company through significant growth and industry recognition.
