Elizabeth Gilbert

Nacido: July 18, 1969 – Waterbury, Connecticut, United States

Elizabeth Gilbert is an American author whose work spans memoir, fiction, and creativity. She is best known for Eat, Pray, Love, the global memoir bestseller, and for Big Magic and the novel The Signature of All Things. Her writing on self-discovery and creativity has reached millions worldwide.

Biografía y Trayectoria del Autor

Elizabeth Gilbert grew up on a small Christmas tree farm near Waterbury, Connecticut, an upbringing that gave her an early sense of rural self-reliance and close observation. She later attended New York University, studying political science while writing fiction at night. After college, she spent several years traveling around the United States and taking jobs in bars, diners, and ranches, gathering the material that would feed her early work. Those years led to Pilgrims, her debut story collection, which was a finalist for the PEN/Hemingway Award. At the same time, she built a parallel career in journalism, writing for outlets including Spin, GQ, and The New York Times Magazine; one GQ piece later became the basis for the film Coyote Ugly.
