The decisive break came on June 2, 2003, when she woke from a vivid dream of a human girl and a vampire in conversation in a meadow. Writing around childcare and household routines, often late at night, she drafted Twilight in roughly three months. A further turning point came when her sister Emily encouraged her to seek publication; after querying agents, Meyer signed with Jodi Reamer, and Little, Brown acquired the manuscript, transforming an unpublished writer into a major new figure in young adult fiction.
