Todd Rose is an American author and social scientist focused on individuality, human potential, conformity, and success. A former Harvard faculty member who directed the Mind, Brain, and Education program, he wrote The End of Average, Dark Horse, and Collective Illusions; his books are bestsellers, including the Wall Street Journal bestseller Collective Illusions.
Todd Rose’s story begins in small-town Utah, where school was a poor fit and the labels attached to him were harsh. He left high school during his senior year with a 0.9 GPA, became a young father, and spent years in low-wage work while his family relied at times on welfare. The decisive turn came when he saw what education had made possible in his own family. Rose earned a GED, attended Weber State University, then went on to Harvard, later returning as a faculty member, founder of the Laboratory for the Science of Individuality, and director of the Mind, Brain, and Education program.
