Born: September 03, 1957 – Mysore, Karnataka, India
Sadhguru is an Indian spiritual teacher, yoga advocate, and founder of the Isha Foundation, known for writing Inner Engineering and Karma and for popularizing meditation and wellbeing through talks and digital media. His work spans spirituality and environmental campaigns, and he received India’s Padma Vibhushan in 2017.
Sadhguru, born Jagadish Vasudev in Mysore, India, on September 3, 1957, came of age far from the image of a conventional religious teacher. He studied English literature at the University of Mysore, developed a lasting fascination with motorcycles and the outdoors, and in his twenties was still oriented more toward exploration than institution-building. By his own account, a powerful inner experience on Chamundi Hill near Mysore on September 23, 1982, redirected his life toward yoga and spiritual teaching. Over the following decade, that personal turning point became a public vocation, and in 1992 he founded Isha Foundation as the organizational base for his work on inner wellbeing and human transformation.
