Ashley Poston is an American novelist who writes contemporary romance and young adult speculative fiction. She is best known for Geekerella, The Dead Romantics, and The Seven Year Slip. Her work combines pop-culture fluency, fantastical premises, and emotionally centered relationships, appealing to readers of both romance and fantasy.
Ashley Poston’s path to authorship began in Lexington, South Carolina, where writing first became a practical form of self-expression. As a child, she dealt with a pronounced speech impediment and found that words were easier to control on the page than out loud. That habit grew into short stories, fanfiction, and life in online fandom spaces, communities she has described as formative both creatively and personally. She later earned a B.A. in English from the University of South Carolina in 2012, then moved to New York City and worked in publishing, including marketing and design work, before returning to South Carolina and shifting toward full-time fiction.
