Anthony Horowitz is a British novelist and screenwriter known for crime, mystery, and young adult adventure. He created the Alex Rider series and wrote novels including Magpie Murders and the Hawthorne investigations, while also writing for television. His books have sold millions of copies worldwide and been translated into numerous languages.
Anthony Horowitz was born in Stanmore, north London, on April 5, 1955, and decided early that writing would be his life. He has described the boarding school he attended from ages eight to thirteen as miserable, but has also credited later teachers at Rugby School with introducing him to literature, drama, poetry, and school journalism. He went on to study English literature and art history at the University of York, graduating in 1977. In his early twenties he worked in advertising, an experience he later said taught him speed and energy on the page, before his first book, The Sinister Secret of Frederick K. Bower, appeared in 1979. ((https://www.britannica.com/biography/Anthony-Horowitz))
