Born: March 03, 1946 – Hoboken, New Jersey, United States
Alan Weiss is an American business author, consultant, and speaker focused on consulting, leadership, organizational development, and personal growth. Best known for Million Dollar Consulting, he has written more than 60 books. Founder of Summit Consulting Group, he has advised over 500 organizations worldwide, and his work has been translated into 15 languages.
Alan Weiss was raised in Union City, New Jersey, the son of a salesman and a school secretary, and showed early tendencies toward both leadership and writing as student council president and newspaper editor at Emerson High School. At Rutgers University–Newark, where he studied political science, worked part-time to cover costs, and edited The Observer to award-winning results, he developed the liberal-arts range and direct prose that would later mark his books and speeches. After graduation he married his high school sweetheart, Maria, worked at Prudential, and completed a master’s degree in political science at Montclair State University. A later dismissal after a short presidency at a behavioral-testing firm became the decisive break: he chose independent consulting, founded Summit Consulting Group, and built the platform on which his authorial career would rest.
