To achieve a persistent playback experience, you should use nested routes and a layout shell. By placing the audio player component within a parent layout file—using a tool like the React Router Outlet—the player remains mounted while only the inner page content changes. This prevents the JavaScript state from resetting and ensures the audio continues playing uninterrupted as the user clicks through different sections of the app.
Traditional fetching often relies on useEffect hooks that trigger only after a component renders, leading to visible loading spinners and "waterfall" delays. Loaders allow the app to fetch necessary data, such as episode metadata or cover art, before the component even begins to render. This results in an "instant" feel where the page content is already available the moment the user navigates to it, significantly improving perceived performance.
A debounce hook prevents "API spamming" by waiting for a user to stop typing for a set amount of time, such as 300 milliseconds, before sending a request to the server. Without it, the app would trigger a new API call for every single letter typed, which wastes bandwidth and can lead to your API access being revoked. Debouncing ensures the search feels snappy and efficient rather than frantic.
Code splitting involves breaking the application's code into smaller "chunks" using tools like React.lazy and Suspense. Instead of forcing the browser to download the entire codebase for every single page at once, the app only loads the code required for the specific route the user is visiting. This keeps the initial bundle size small and ensures the app remains fast even as you add dozens of features and pages.
The choice depends on the complexity of the application. The Context API is ideal for many apps to manage a "Source of Truth," such as audio playback status or user favorites, without the hassle of "prop drilling." However, for massive, enterprise-grade portals with highly complex logic and thousands of lines of code, Redux is preferred because it provides a more disciplined and structured environment for managing state.
