No livro "A Mente Moralista", que já tem uns catorze anos de estrada, ele mostra que a gente não é tão racional quanto gosta de pensar. O negócio é que a nossa moralidade funciona como um "assessor de imprensa interior".

    Nia: Pior que não. Ele usa uma metáfora que eu acho sensacional: o elefante e o cavaleiro. O elefante é a nossa intuição, aquele processo rápido e automático. O cavaleiro é a razão. O problema é que o cavaleiro não é o chefe; ele é o servo do elefante. Ele só serve para inventar uma justificativa *post hoc* para o que o elefante já decidiu fazer.

    Lena: Cara, eu não sabia disso. Então a gente primeiro sente que algo é errado e só depois corre atrás de um argumento para validar o que já escolheu?

    Nia: Exatamente. A razão está ali para manter nossa reputação e justificar nossos julgamentos para os outros, não para buscar a verdade nua e crua. Pra entender como esse mecanismo realmente opera e por que ele nos cega para o lado do outro, a gente precisa começar pelo modelo social intuicionista.
