The Economist and Financial Times have found success linking print to deeper online content, though none reach broad populations. The internet has fundamentally altered media power dynamics. Outsiders like Greenwald, Snowden, Manning and Assange have shattered the comfortable containment of vested interests, prompting governments to target whistleblowers with draconian laws. Media's transition from traditional news gathering to the internet will determine what kind of society we inhabit. The power now rests with the public and their demand for truth-we're only now beginning to understand the real price of news.
