Your brain, that remarkable organ that has cured diseases and created art, operates on electricity. Under a microscope, brain tissue reveals tiny neurons forming intricate messaging systems with signals zipping between them at speeds over 200 miles per hour. This electrical activity forms the foundation of sleep science, first measured by Hans Berger's electroencephalogram (EEG).
