First, choose foods rich in probiotics. Fermented foods have provided probiotic bacteria in diets worldwide for thousands of years, from Persian wine-making 7,000 years ago to Chinese fermented cabbage 6,000 years ago. During lactic acid fermentation, beneficial bacteria convert sugar molecules into lactic acid, creating an acidic environment that kills harmful bacteria while the good bacteria multiply.
These probiotic-rich foods deliver bifidobacteria and lactobacilli strains that maintain gut lining integrity, balance pH, act as natural antimicrobials, regulate immunity, and control inflammation. They even make nutrients more bioavailable by liberating vitamins A, C, K, and B-complex from your food.
