Virginia Woolf

出生: January 25, 1882 – London, England, United Kingdom

Virginia Woolf was an influential English novelist, essayist, and critic, renowned for pioneering modernist literature and stream of consciousness narrative. Best known for works such as Mrs. Dalloway, To the Lighthouse, and A Room of One’s Own, her writing has been translated into over fifty languages and remains central to feminist literary criticism and twentieth-century cultural discourse.

传记与作者历程

Virginia Woolf, born Adeline Virginia Stephen in 1882 in South Kensington, London, grew up in a vibrant intellectual household. The daughter of the historian Leslie Stephen and Julia Prinsep Stephen, she received a rich home education in English classics and the arts, later attending King’s College London, where she encountered some of the earliest advocates for women’s higher education and social reform. The early loss of her mother and then her father shaped her formative years, both deepening her psychological complexity and fueling her creative introspection.
