    La Psicocibernética es un concepto desarrollado por el cirujano plástico Maxwell Maltz, quien descubrió que el éxito depende de nuestra autoimagen interna y no solo de los cambios físicos. Según explican Nia y Miles, este enfoque propone que el cerebro funciona como un mecanismo de búsqueda de objetivos, similar a un misil teledirigido. Si las coordenadas de nuestra autoimagen están mal configuradas, el cerebro nos llevará al autosabotaje sin importar los cambios externos que realicemos.

    La autoimagen actúa como un software interno que dicta nuestras capacidades y resultados. Miles destaca que, aunque un cambio sea objetivo y visible en el espejo, si la persona sigue atrapada en su vieja imagen mental, seguirá sintiéndose infeliz o limitada. La psicología del éxito en la Psicocibernética se basa en entender que debemos reprogramar esa percepción interna para que nuestro mecanismo mental trabaje a nuestro favor y no en nuestra contra.

    Este campo surgió de forma inesperada en el quirófano de Maxwell Maltz hace más de sesenta años. Nia relata que Maltz observó una paradoja: pacientes que quedaban físicamente perfectos tras una cirugía seguían sintiéndose feos. Esto lo llevó a concluir que la verdadera transformación no ocurre en la piel, sino en la mente, dando lugar a técnicas de reprogramación mental y superación personal que hoy conocemos como Psicocibernética.
